​This heritage tour takes in the popular sites of Sri Lanka. Your trip starts in Negombo, Dambulla, Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Tissa/Yala, Bentota Beach and finishing in Colombo. 

Day 01: Australia ► Negombo 
Afternoon depart Australia to Negombo. Upon arrival meet your driver guide and transfer to four star hotel for 2 nights. 
 
Day 02: Negombo (Breakfast. Lunch. Dinner)
City tour of Negombo, visit the remaining ruins of the Dutch period and a Buddhist temple.  This stunning seaside town is popular for its large harvests of lobsters, crabs and prawns. See the fish auctions down by the beach followed by the famous Negombo bazaar.
 
Day 03: Negombo ► Aukana ► Anuradhapura ► Habarana/Dambulla (Breakfast. Lunch. Dinner)
After breakfast, depart for Aukana to see the tallest Buddha statue of Sri Lanka. Later visit the ruins of Anuradhapura, the first capital of the island dating from the 4th century BC. See the sacred Bo Tree, the world famous Samadhi Buddha, the remains of the Brazen Palace and rock carvings. Visit Mihintale, the town where Buddhism first influenced the people of Sri Lanka. Check-in to four star hotel for 3 nights.
 
Day 04: Polonnaruwa ► Minnariya National Park (Breakfast. Lunch. Dinner)
This morning visit Polonnaruwa, the medieval capital and a World Heritage Site. This second capital city of Sri Lanka was built in the 11th and 12th centuries. See the ruins of the Royal Palace, Lotus Bath and Polonnaruwa Statue and visit the Gal Vihare, a series of splendid statues of the Buddha carved out of rock. In the afternoon drive to the spectacular Minnariya Sanctuary, home to a dazzling array of wildlife including elephant, buffalo, wild boar, and some 160 species of birds. Depending on the movement of elephants the national park visit may be switched to Kaudulla National Park instead as the animals move freely between the parks depending on the water levels at the tanks or reservoirs. 
 
Day 05: Sigiriya Rock Fortress ► Habarana Village (Breakfast. Lunch. Dinner)
After breakfast, explore the Sigiriya Rock Fortress which is a World Heritage site of 5th century AD, built by the King Kashyapa. Its home to water gardens, frescoes, ancient graffiti and commands an amazing view of Sri Lanka’s greenery. Later make a local village Tour at Habarana with lunch. During your countryside visit you can enjoy various aspects of village life. You can see their lifestyle in close quarters and experience their joys and sorrows. You can understand how hard they work to earn their livelihood. You would see several works associated with day-to-day village life such as fishing, wood carving, baking, farming, coconut tree climbing etc.
 
Day 06: Habarana ► Dambulla ► Matale ► Kandy (Breakfast. Lunch. Dinner)
Today, travel by road to Kandy. En route visit the Dambulla rock cave temple built by king Walagambahu, in the 1st Century B.C. it is a World Heritage Site, and the most impressive of Sri Lanka’s cave temples. Later visit a special garden at Matale to learn about species and their use in Sri Lankan cuisines. Enjoy some sightseeing such as the Temple of Tooth, an arts and crafts work shop, oriental market place, a bazaar and a gem lapidary where you can see how rough gems (particularly the famous Blue & Star sapphires) are mined cut and polished using traditional methods. In the evening enjoy a cultural show of traditional Kandyan Dancers and fire walkers. Check-in to four star hotel for 2 nights.
 
Day 07:  Kandy ► Pinnawela ► Peradeniya ► Kandy (Breakfast. Lunch. Dinner)
Morning visit to the elephant orphanage in Pinnawela, established in 1975, it commenced with seven orphans. Today some of these orphans enjoy the fortune of seeing their grandchildren born in the same location and watch the elephants being bathed by their Mahouts. Later visit the Royal Botanical Gardens at Peradeniya and further explore.
 
Day 08:  Kandy ► Nanu Oya ► Nuwara Eliya (Breakfast. Lunch. Dinner)
Take the train journey from Kandy to Nanu Oya. You will be picked up at the Nanu Oya Station and driven through scenic mountains to Nuwara Eliya, well known as “Little England”. Stop at the mountains covered with tea bushes and waterfalls. Enjoy the magnificent landscape. Visit a tea factory, follow the tea trails to watch the interesting process and enjoy a freshly brewed cup of Ceylon tea. Check-in to four hotel for 1 night.
 
Day 09: Nuwara Eliya ► Ella Gap ► Tissa/Yala (Breakfast. Lunch. Dinner)
Enjoy your breakfast in the hill country, leave for Yala via Ella Gap where you can enjoy the marvelous view over the hill country. Continue your journey to Yala National Park in Sri Lanka’s south-east, probably one of the best wildlife areas in the world in which to observe leopards. In the afternoon enjoy a jeep safari at Yala National Park, which is also home to wild elephants, wild boars, wild buffaloes, bears, deer and crocodiles. Large flocks of migratory and indigenous birds are also found here. Check-in to four star hotel for 1 night.
 
Day 10: Tissa ► Koggala ► Bentota Beach (Breakfast. Lunch. Dinner)
Start the day travel to Tangalle and Matara. En route at Koggala see the stilt fishermen seated on poles mounted. In the afternoon make a city tour of Galle where you can enjoy a little walk along the walls and narrow streets of Galle Dutch Fort. Travel on to the Beruwela via Kosgoda Turtle Hatchery which was set up to help protect Sri Lanka’s turtles against the threat of extinction. Check-in to four star beach resort for 2 nights. 
 
Day 11: Bentota Beach (Breakfast) 
A day to relax and enjoy the attractive Bentota Beach which called “Golden Mile” is a pristine beach of golden sand well sheltered by the palm groves that spread along the coastal stretch and you may scroll down to experience the local area. 
 
Day 12 Bentota Beach ► Colombo (Breakfast. Lunch)
This morning farewell the beach for the commercial city of Sri Lanka, Colombo. Make a sightseeing tour of Colombo. Visit the Pettah, and the remaining areas of the Colonial era including the Fort, Galle Face Green, Independence Square, Old parliament House and Beira Lake. Check-in to four star hotel for 1 night.
 
Day 13: Colombo ► Australia (Breakfast)
Morning free time. Late check-out and transfer to airport for your flight home.
 
Day 14: Arrive Australia 
Arrive home with many memorable experience.
