​Experience the rich history of China on this 16 Day Historical Tour. This tour includes Beijing, with trips to the Great Wall and the Forbidden City, Datong to see the Hanging Monastry, Pingyao’s ancient town, Terra-Cotta Warriors in Xian, Luoyang’s Longmen Grottoes and Shanghai.

Day 01: Australia ► Beijing 
Morning depart Australia to Beijing with Cathay Pacific Airlines via Hong Kong. Upon arrival, meet your guide and transfer to four star hotel for 4 nights.
 
Day 02: Beijing (Breakfast. Lunch. Dinner and Show) 
Today city tour includes Tiananmen Square, the largest square in the world. Then continue to the magnificent Forbidden City, home to emperors for over 500 years and Temple of Heaven, built in 1420, where emperors of Ming and Qing would perform rituals essential to the well-being of the country, praying to Heaven for good harvests. Enjoy the Kung Fu show in the evening.
 
Day 03: Beijing (Breakfast. Lunch. Dinner) 
A full-day tour to the Great Wall, built more than 2,000 years ago to protect China from northern invaders. After lunch visit the sacred Ming Tombs, where 13 emperors of the Ming Dynasty were buried. On the way back to Beijing drive by the “Bird Nest” and “Water Cube” – the main 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics venues for a photo stop. Enjoy Peking duck banquet tonight.
 
Day 04: Beijing (Breakfast. Lunch) 
Visit Summer Palace, which was built as a royal garden for Qing Dynasty Emperors, and then take a “Beijing Alleys Tour”. Ride in three-wheeled rickshaws through Beijing’s quaint alleys, experiencing life as a Beijing local. This afternoon visit  Wangfujing Street, which is one of Beijing’s oldest streets and now a premier shopping district with a modern face.
 
Day 05: Beijing ► Datong (Breakfast. Lunch) 
Morning free time. In the afternoon, transfer to railway station for overnight soft-sleeper train to Datong. Upon arrival, meet your guide and transfer to four star hotel for 2 nights.
  
Day 06: Datong (Lunch. Dinner) 
Morning visit the Yungang grottoes, known as one of China’s three major treasure houses of arts, it is listed as a World Cultural Heritage Site by UNESCO. Then continue to see the Nine-Dragon Screen, built in Ming Dynasty, and the Hanging Monastery, constructed closely against the cliff, resting on beams partly inserted into the rocks and suspended high up in the air.
 
Day 07: Datong ► Taiyuan ► Pingyao (Breakfast. Lunch. Dinner) 
Drive to Taiyuan, the capital of Shanxi Province. Upon arrival, visit the Jinci Garden, which is an ancient Chinese garden with Song Dynasty structure. Then continue drive to the UNESCO city of Pingyao. On the way to Pingyao visit the best-preserved house of Family Qiao. Check-in to local best hotel for 2 nights.
 
Day 08: Pingyao (Breakfast. Lunch) 
Visit the ancient Pingyao town, including Ri Sheng Chang remittance bank, the Ancient Government Office, the Ancient City Wall, etc. Then enjoy a relaxing stroll along the Ming and Qing Street.
 
Day 09: Pingyao ► Xian (Breakfast. Lunch. Dinner)
Today take a bullet train to Xian. Upon arrival, have lunch and then visit the City Wall and the Big Wild Goose Pagoda. Tonight enjoy the Tang Dynasty Show with local famous Dumpling Banquet. Check-in to four star hotel for 2 nights.
 
Day 10: Xian (Breakfast. Lunch. Dinner)
Morning visit the Terra-Cotta Warriors Museum. After lunch, visit Huaqing Hot Spring Park, then visit the Terra Cotta Warriors Making Workshop.
 
Day 11: Xian ► Luoyang (Breakfast. Lunch. Dinner) 
Today take a bullet train to Luoyang. Meet your guide and transfer to four star hotel for 2 nights. After check-in, visit the Longmen Grottoes and White Horse Temple. Together with Mogao Caves and Yungang Caves, Longmen Caves is known as the three great sculpture treasure houses of China. Located 12km east to the ancient capital city of Luoyang, facing the Luo River in the south and sitting back to the Mang Hill in the north, is the White Horse Temple, the first Buddhist monastery in China.
 
Day 12: Luoyang ► Dengfeng ► Luoyang (Breakfast. Lunch. Dinner) 
Travel by road to Shaolin Temple in the mountains of Songshan in Dengfeng. Late afternoon return to Luoyang.
 
Day 13: Luoyang ► Shanghai (Breakfast. Dinner) 
Morning transfer to airport for your flight to Shanghai. Upon arrival visit Pearl Tower and then take a walk along the famous Bund. Check-in to four star hotel for 2 nights.
 
Day 14: Shanghai (Breakfast. Lunch. Dinner) 
City tour in Shanghai includes Shanghai Museum, then to the beautiful Yu Garden and the Old Town Market. After lunch, visit former French Concession area and Nanjing Road, the biggest ‘Pedestrians-Only’ shopping street in Shanghai. 
 
Day 15: Shanghai ► Australia (Breakfast) 
Morning free leisure time for last minute shopping before transfer to the airport for your flight home.
 
Day 16: Australia arrival 
Arrive home with unforgettable memories.
